In the fifteen years that I formally studied Buddhist meditation practices in both monastic and non-monastic lifestyles, it became obvious that few people knew the core teachings presented in the Buddhist scriptures, important teachings that are common to all of the Buddhist traditions.
Most often, students are offered a beginner’s package of scriptural passages which can become a barrier to deeper understanding if the more profound teachings are never offered. This book is an offering of those profound aspects. It does not state that this is the only way to look at Buddhism but the teachings presented here do exist and are an important part of the Buddha’s legacy. I’ll leave it to you to decide their worth. |
