Born in Manitoba, Canada, 1951 and drawn to meditation at age fourteen, Darryl spent seventeen years investigating various concentration and awareness practices from Hindu, Sufi, Buddhist, Christian, and Western Psychology sources.
At age thirty-one he moved to California, beginning a nine year apprenticeship with Vipassana teacher Ruth Denison. Vipassana is the essential meditation practice of Buddhism.
Following his time with Ruth, he spent another six years in England and Switzerland as an orthodox Buddhist monk in the meditation traditions coming out of northern Thailand, under the guidance of Tan Chao Khun Sumedhacaryia (Ajahn Sumedho).
Along the way Darryl has spent time with the independent teacher Jiddhu Krishnamurti and the Vedantic sage Robert Adams.
Darryl currently lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
